Background of the Study
Karaye Local Government Area (LGA) in Kano State is predominantly rural, with agriculture being the mainstay of the economy. Despite the region's rich agricultural potential, rural poverty remains a significant challenge. Geopolitical strategies, including policies related to resource allocation, infrastructure development, and political representation, have played a role in either alleviating or exacerbating rural poverty in Karaye. The impact of these strategies is influenced by political dynamics at the state and federal levels, as well as local governance decisions. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of existing geopolitical strategies aimed at addressing rural poverty in Karaye LGA and suggest ways to optimize these strategies to achieve sustainable development.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Rural poverty in Karaye LGA has remained persistent despite several policy interventions aimed at promoting agricultural development and poverty reduction. Geopolitical factors, including state-level power dynamics, resource competition, and uneven policy implementation, have influenced the success of these poverty alleviation strategies. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of geopolitical strategies in addressing rural poverty in Karaye and identify opportunities for improvement.

1.6 Significance of the Study
This study will contribute to a deeper understanding of how geopolitical strategies can be leveraged to reduce rural poverty in Karaye LGA. By evaluating existing strategies and identifying areas for improvement, the study will provide practical recommendations for policymakers and local government officials to enhance poverty alleviation efforts (Aliyu & Garba, 2024).
1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus on rural poverty reduction strategies in Karaye LGA, Kano State, and their connection to geopolitical factors. Limitations include access to comprehensive data on poverty levels and resource distribution within the region.
